So random, April '25

We start on April Fool's Day, with...what a surprise, a Cabbage Patch Kid.  Please ignore the mess behind him...and the poopy lighting too, for that matter.

Y'all think Nathan Hunter is just a smidge outta season in that?  Luckily for him I had something new in the mail.

Later on that evening Alexandra Claire did get something new in the mail, and she made a beeline for the grass.

The ground was still damp from the Sunday before (it was Tuesday by then), but that neither bothered nor affected Alexandra.  Later on that same evening I took this picture of Alexandra sitting pretty.

This image shows the color of the dress a little better.  It's an apple green shade.

April 2nd.  The calm after the storm.

It was still thundering a bit during the eight o'clock hour, but nothing like it had been.  Candela Laura and Rita Cheryl were both sick to death of storms and ready to hit the sack by then, and I'm not sure what Mia was thinking.  Thunder and lightning don't faze her much, though.

April 4th, we were surrounded by more tornadic thunderstorms, but the day's chosen dolls' cares were nigh next to zero.

This is another of my candids.  I'd just put Nathan Hunter in his new romper, and he flopped onto Mia like he'd known her all his life.  Mia, being a good-natured little doll, didn't mind a bit.

April 6th, the rain finally moved out and chilly temperatures moved in.  So typical of weather in the Midwest, fickle as sin.  A conversation with my mama led to this picture of Danica and Lark.

Pardon Danica's unbrushed hair and Lark's derpy eye.  Lark has developed a bit of eye derp in the time that I've owned her, and that may may land her in a pair of glasses.  Anyway, I ran into a very cute Create Your Own doll on Failbook, one with bobbed hair like Danica's.  I showed her to Mama, and of course she fell in love.  "You could get one like that with blue hair," she suggested, remembering that at one time I wanted to dye my own hair blue.  "I could," I replied, "but those CYOs are two hundred bucks, and I've got a girl with blue hair."  That, of course, is Lark.

I then noticed that the Failbook doll's owner called the bob "underrated."  In turn, I remembered that Danica has a bob, so I brushed her hair and showed her off.

Danica was once owned by a child and is thus a little rough around the edges, but she's everything I'd have chosen in a Create Your Own so I'm happy.  For the price they wanted (ninety bucks plus shipping) I was happy to overlook her shaggy hair and the ding on her nose.  Oh, and regarding the bob, I'm not the only one who likes it.  Miss Emily's CYO doll Eliza also had bobbed hair.  RED bobbed hair, just like Danica's!

While I was fussing with Lark and Danica, Candela Laura had her hands full with So Surprised Suzie. 

Having heard a loud rumble outside, Suzie was convinced that we were in for another thunderstorm.  Candela had to reassure her that it was some idiot with a noisy car, not thunder.  It took some talking, but Suzie eventually calmed down and agreed to stand still for a picture. 

She'd heard that she'd be getting a new dress next pay period, as Mama and I had both seen little outfits on Etsy that we liked.  Suzie ended up not getting a dress per se, but she did get something cute to wear.

April 8th, eclipse anniversary!  It was finally dry enuff to take my dolls outside, if only for a minute. 

Gwenda Cecile is wearing yet another gift from Mama.  I like to joke that the best Cabbie dresses come from Texarkana, because several of the outfits Mama has given me are from there.  The ladybug dress is no exception. 

That evening I also got a picture of Mia and Little Mia together. 

I said this earlier in the month but I'll say it again:  my pocketbook may be in serious trouble.  These dolls are just too cute.

April 10th.  Matthew Tommie got a new T-shirt that happens to match Justin Latowski's.

Coincidence.  I bought Justin's shirt two years ago, and Mama bought Matt's shirt last week.  I had no idea it was gonna be yellow and white, but it suits Matt just fine.

April 11th.  Caught this one as I was getting ready for work.  From left, Booful Beans, Chou Chou, and Xue.  Hedda Get Bedda, Nathan Hunter, Esmond Brant, and Cara Raelean can all be seen in the background.

Chou Chou and Xue were NOT havin' it that morning, but then Chou Chou's never havin' it.  She tolerates Booful though, since being mean to Booful is like being mean to a puppy.  Chou Chou is a Monst doll, by the way, and Xue is an Amooooore Doll.  Yep, Amooooore, five o's.  Both Chou and Xue will be getting reviews sometime in the summer.

April 13th.  Random head shot of Hugo Jack. 

I'd asked my friends on Failbook:  if their bald Cabbies had hair, what color would it be?  I've always envisioned Hugo as a brunette, and strangely enuff several of my friends said the same.  I think my buddy from Newfoundland and Labrador said her baldie would have red hair.

April 14th.  Another one of those "I threw them together and this is how it came out" pictures. 

Idalia Gale and Beryl June got a bit too rambunctious for Suzie that evening!  They were excited because they'd heard another popcorn girl was joining the Cabbage Patch.

April 17th.  Beryl June met the subjects of a future blog post.

Those are Little Cousins, and I'd never heard of them until a week ago.  They'll be getting a review, but I don't know when.

April 19th.  Storms were once again in the forecast, though the weather in the Bootheel was calm (Texas and Oklahoma were another story).  I got another candid of So Surprised Suzie. 

Suzie likes baby dolls that are smaller than her, and Sasha Baby is precisely that. 

April 20th.  Gary Collier got something bright and new to wear. 

Y'all wouldn't know he was my OlympiKid, would y'all!  A change of clothes really makes a difference. 

April 21st.  Sasha Baby and Nancy cuddle. 

Both dolls are European, and they look cute together as well.  Some of my dolls are a little freaked out by Nancy's makeup, but Sasha Baby doesn't give a flying burrito.

April 22nd.  A warm, clear day, drastically different from the beginning of the month.

Rebecca Madeleine models the dress that I got in the haul a few days before.  It looks cute on her, but I can't wait to see how it looks on my friend's doll.  Orange always looks good on dolls of color, which my friend's doll is.  This is another dress from Texarkana, by the way.

April 24th.  Two of my foreign babies get to know each other. 

The Cabbie is none other than Candela Laura, and she's got Sasha Baby on her lap.  These two were at the center of a goofy question that I asked myself and a couple'a friends, one that will be revealed on the blog in a few days.

April 27th.  Random shot of Silver Bird, and Mini Maryellen photobombing. 

Silver Bird had just received a new outfit, as had Gabby (barely visible to Silver Bird's left).  I had lost the ability to walk unassisted by this point, and thus both Gabby and Silver Bird were parked next to me on the couch.

That's all I've got for y'all this month.  Mobility issues bite.

Clothes from Pegsdollclothesshop

As the weather warms I've treated some of my dolls to some new spring/summer clothes, as I often do during this time of year.  No biggie, except that this particular Etsy shop is undergoing an unusual dilemma.  Pegsdollclothesshop is run by a lady named Peggy Peterson, and a few weeks ago Mama got an email from Miss Peggy warning that she'd been diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer.  Since then Mama and I learned that the cancer has not spread, but Miss Peggy has something rare called...jelly belly, which I've never heard of, that she'll need surgery for.  Makes me think of those gummy tummy penguins that the Candy Blog wasn't enamored with, but I digress.  Peggy stated in her email that the doll clothes kept her busy, so...I've been trying to keep her busy, and to hell with money.  I've got...<pauses to count>...I've got six little outfits so far, four for the girls and two for Kyle.  Since I've been puttering about with Danica a lot here lately, she goes first.  

Y'all may or may not see something poking up underneath Danica's blouse; that would be the tubing from her diabetes pump.  Miss Emily reviewed the diabetes kit on her blog several years back, so if you want a detailed look at that set, you know where to go.  Anyway, the blouse is a sleeveless square-necked smock blouse, rendered in shades of purple.  The pattern on the blouse is floral and makes me think of the Lilly Pulitzer dresses that several of my girls wear in summertime.  It isn't this blue-tinged IRL; I took this picture indoors and the others outside on a sunshiny day.

The waist of the blouse is ringed with my favorite trim, ric-rac.  It appears to be tie-dyed as well.

The pants legs are trimmed with more ric-rac and bands of the floral blouse fabric.  The rest of the capris are made of this glorious royal purple quilt fabric.  It's a lovely shade.

If I had any critiques I'd say that Danica's blouse is a little tight.  The Velcro fastens, but I had to tug a bit to get it shut.  A slimmer doll like Kristiana could probably wear this without the necessary tugging, but Danica looks fine.  She can also sit down; while her blouse is a bit tight her capris are not.

Different day, different weather, different doll.  Marina's getup is made from the same pattern of capri pants and a smocked blouse, but in green.

Marina has green highlights in her hair, so why not toss her in green clothes?  While the purple set is floral, the green set has a nice pattern that looks like...kinda like God's eyes. 

The green set is trimmed with ric-rac like the purple set is, but this ric-rac is silver and sparkly.

The capris are made of a different material than the blouse (and all of Danica's getup, for that matter).  It feels a little like burlap but isn't as rough, and it looks like gauze but isn't as lightweight.  The legs are trimmed with more ric-rac.

The same fabric makes up the straps of the blouse, providing a nice visual tie-in.

Marina's blouse fits her like a glove, but her pants legs are a little tight where the ric-rac is.  I had to tug a little harder to get them past her calves, but it can be done.  Like Danica, Marina sits like a charm in her capris, though I didn't think to photograph that.  As I noted back during Halloween, Marina is a new doll and thus tightly strung.  It can be a struggle for both her and Danica to sit, thus why I make note of how well they can move in their new capris.  Birthday girl Luciana is also still fairly new, though she's loosened up a bit in the time that I've owned her.  However, sitting should be a breeze for her since her new outfit doesn't incorporate pants.  She prefers skirts and dresses during warm weather, and she loves studying space, so I bought her a constellation dress.

This new dress drew a better reaction from my mother than Luciana's LAST dress did, LOL.  After I put this on her, I see that it's not just a constellation dress, but a Zodiac dress!  Here's my sign, right up front.

Here's Luciana's sign; she shares a sign with Harry Truman, and with one of my great-grandmothers.  Don't mess with the bull, young man.  You'll get the horns.

Alright, Moon Girl, quit gawking at the various constellations and talk about the dress itself.  The dress is pretty simple, and it kinda has a silhouette like the dresses that Samantha and Rebecca would wear.  Drop-waisted, with a short skirt.

The dropped waist has this loopy white trim that feels smooth and soft to the touch.  This is a snagging hazard if treated rough.

That's about all there is to say about Luciana, so on to the one and only Rita Cheryl.  Rita Cheryl isn't big on dresses, but she loves purple so getting her in this dress was a cinch.

The cut of this dress is more like that of your traditional AG generidress.  The waist is trimmed with...guess what?  Gold ric-rac!

The neckline is a square neckline.  I don't have too many doll dresses like that.

I love the gold accents in this dress!  I'll have to get some gold shoes to match.

As for Kyle, he had two outfits to choose from, so he picked a Mickey Mouse-themed outfit.

The front of Kyle's shirt closes with Velcro, but it also has buttons that add a nice finish.

The shorts are...well, red shorts.  These are a nice length, and they're loose enuff that Kyle can sit.

Here's a closeup of the print.  It makes me giggle because I can hear Mickey enthusiastically whooping "Oh boy!"  I love Mickey Mouse!

I kinda wish Kyle's shorts had white buttons like Mickey's do, but then I can always add that myself.

Overall I can't complain about these outfits.  True, they're simple little getups that are a smidge tight in places, but I love the colors and I love the themes of the Mickey set and the constellation dress.  Overall these outfits are an easy way to flesh out a dolly wardrobe, and they go for...well, I think keeping Miss Peggy occupied during a cancer battle is a good cause. 

Now, Luciana is off to celebrate her birthday.  No stargazing will be done as more rain is in the forecast, but she did receive a box of her favorite cookies from Rita Cheryl and Courtney and Z.  I figure they'll eat those and binge-watch some TV.

A quick one for St. Patrick's Day

I can't remember ATM if I've ever said how much I love St. Patrick's Day, but I do.  After two major holidays that go heavy on the color red, I'm ready for something more veronal, and St. Pat's emphasis on my favorite color fits the bill nicely.  This year I just have one new shirt and jeans set, modelled by Danica Holley...

...one new dress, modeled by Julia Gotz...

...and one T-shirt, modelled by Rita Cheryl Lassiter.  Y'all got a glimpse of Rita Cheryl's shirt back on the sixth, but...well, here it is again.

As usual, Mama supplied Julia's dress, and as usual, it's an Etsy number.  The other outfits are also Etsy getup, though I bought those.  Rita Cheryl's shirt came with a badge that declares her the world's cutest leprechaun, which is all well and good...except that Rita Cheryl doesn't look anymore like a leprechaun than I do!

The cute little decal is unfortunately coming loose, but that's nothing that a little fabric glue can't fix.

Note that all three of my girls are either sleeveless or in short sleeves.  The temperatures hit sixty ONCE this past week, and it hasn't been any warmer than forty-two degrees since.  My mother has taken to joking that whenever I change my dolls' clothes for the season it SHOULD be, the weather immediately reverts back to what it HAD been.  Like when I start dressing my girls in fall stuff and it gets hot again.  Same sorta thing here; my trio is bare-armed (and barefoot in Danica's case), and tonight it's supposed to get below freezing.  Our poor peach trees!

Julia looks and acts like her mind is elsewhere, so I'll wrap things up now.  Oh, and just for the heckuvit I started up a new blog devoted to...guess what?  My post about hair bows proved fairly popular, so I started up a blog about my bows.  Not the most exciting or important subject in the world, but just about all of my hair bows trigger some sort of story or memory, so that'll make things slightly less boring.  If you like colorful stuff and reading my bloviations, go over there and have a looksie.
