More dolls for my imaginary collection

I love doing these "dolls that I like but don't need" posts!  They can be a mite dangerous to my pocketbook, but I still enjoy putting them together.

MOMMY'S HAVING A BABY

COMPANY:  Tyco
YEARS OF PRODUCTION:  1992

The title pretty much says it all:  Mommy Doll is pregnant and "gives birth" to a baby doll.  She even has her own little ultrasound machine to "look" at the baby.  Baby Doll also comes with some accessories, and she drinks and wets like many good baby dolls do.  Mommy has jointed arms to hold Baby, and a dress to wear post-partum.  It's a cute concept, though I can see where some parents might've been freaked out some.  My own mother lifted an eyebrow when I told her about this one, LOL.

MAGIC POTTY BABY

COMPANY:  Tyco
YEARS OF PRODUCTION:  1992

Coexisting with Mommy's Having a Baby was this poppet, who had a gimmick similar to that of Potty Dotty.  Sit her on her toidy and she goes!  Unlike Potty Dotty, Magic Potty Baby's commode does all the dirty work, making tinkling and flushing noises.  The doll herself is partially stuffed and is cute enuff on her own without the pot.  She could be either white or black.

PEBBLES AND BAMM-BAMM

COMPANY:  Ideal
YEARS OF PRODUCTION:
Believe it or not, Uncle Man-Child reminded me of these one night.  We never will be super-close, but we're getting along better, and one night he...I forget exactly what it was he said, but I think he said it was a shame that Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm (the children from The Flintstones) weren't made into dolls.  Surprise, they were!  They appear to be nothing more than cute little baby dolls done up in the likenesses of Pebbles Flintstone and Bamm-Bamm Rubble, but they sure are cute!  I went for a look on eBay shortly after that, and to my surprise Bamm-Bamm is the easier one to find.  Usually the girl doll is the easier one to find, but not this time!

CHIKA-CHAN

COMPANY:  Shiba
YEARS OF PRODUCTION:  1970, give or take a year.

The subreddit r/DollsOfAsia can be a dangerous place to go if you love dolls but are short on cash.  Since Chika-chan is foreign she's hard to come by here in the U.S., and as such she can go for a pretty penny.  Shame too, because she's cute.  "Chan" is a Japanese honorific, meaning that Chika-chan would have to be from there.  If the source I found is correct then Chika only had blonde hair...meaning that the doll pictured above is her friend Chiko-chan.  Chiko was either a redhead or a brunette.  Both dolls appear to have an internal armature, and thus they remind me a little of Tutti and Todd.  I'm fond of Asian dolls, so it should be no surprise that I like Chika-chan and Chico-chan.

ARGIGI AND BRIGIGI

COMPANY:  Hugo Limited
YEARS OF PRODUCTION:

These remind me a little of Poppy Parker in the face.  According to Cardigan Argigi is the lead character and Brigigi is her bestie.  If the chatter on Reddit is to be believed, these dolls are independently produced and have small production numbers, kinda like some of the smaller art dolls that I've seen on Etsy.  As of writing all the dolls are out of stock, so I have no idea what prices we're dealing with, but I bet y'all a bottom dollar these dolls are pricey.  They're cute, though.

PEACHY
COMPANY:  Mattel
YEARS OF PRODUCTION:  1973

C'mon, y'all know darn good and well that Mattel will have an entry somewhere!  Peachy reminds me of the story Treesa told me about herself and her Blooming Doll.  Violet is a puppet, and Treesa used her as a ventriloquist dummy of sorts.  Peachy is...well, she's kinda like that; she comes with four stick puppets and she manipulates them as such.  She also talks via a pull string, and apparently her speech changes with the puppets.  Pretty cool!  I wouldn't mind seeing this doll in action...<pauses to browse YouTube>...I think that's it, yeah.  Peachy could be either black or white, and both variants are cute.  I have to admit, I'm very interested in this one...no, bad Moon!  Stay off eBay!

PENNY PUPPY WALKER
COMPANY:  Bradgate/Palitoy
YEARS OF PRODUCTION:  1972

Bradgate was (I think) a subdivision of Palitoy, meaning that Penny Puppy Walker here is likely a British/European thing.  Y'all know of old how I like foreign releases.  Penny is a walker like a great many dolls, but instead of relying on batteries she relies on...air.  Y'all see that yellow and red thing and the tube around Penny's foot?  The tube attaches to her somewhere and the child would press on those red buttons to get her moving.  The commercial shows that her dog will move to, utilizing the same mechanism.  Pretty cool!  I admit that I almost bought this one just because of that.  I love how dated the fashions in the commercial are, by the way.  Very early seventies.  As an aside, French company Clodrey made a very similar doll during the same timeframe.  Her name was Nini the Trotter and her face was different from Penny's, but otherwise they're the same doll.  Spoiler alert, Clodrey dolls will be making an appearance in the blog soon.  I've seen and found some cute ones.

BABY GROWS UP
COMPANY:  Mattel
YEARS OF PRODUCTION:  1978

Don't confuse this doll with the Baby Alive doll!  Dolls that "grow up" aren't as common as dolls who drink, wet, cry, walk, you get me, but they're definitely out there.  Unclad images of Baby Grows Up show that her torso gets longer as she "grows," and as far as I know her legs don't have to be manually straightened like the Baby Alive doll's legs do.  I can remember one doll from the nineties whose legs had to be straightened by hand to transform her from a crawler to a walker, and to me it looked like a good way to break your doll.  Not that Baby Grows Up can't break, but she seems a bit more robust than similar grow-up dolls.

COME TO ME BABY CRAWL 'N' WALK
COMPANY:  Toy Biz
YEARS OF PRODUCTION:  1998

This is the doll I was thinking of above.  I was ten by 1998 and finally beginning to pay attention to dolls, but I was also still diligently watching Nickelodeon and the toy commercials that accompany kids' programs, so I remember this one pretty well.  She can crawl, and if her legs are pulled straight she can walk.  She apparently is activated by noise, as she moves when you call to her.  Hmmm, does that mean that if I don't take her batteries out she'll start moving when I beller for my dogs, or when the thunder gets too close?  Jeez, I hope not!

That takes care of this bunch!

Love,

So random, March/April '26

We begin this round on the evening of February 28th.  It was warm, I'd spent some time redressing some of my dolls, and these two had spring fever.  Rebecca Madeleine is on the left, and her friend is the one and only Joyita Emilia.
As fine as the weather was that day, we ALL had spring fever!  I'd just gotten both girls in their spring dresses (seen here and here), and they looked cute together.

March 4th, the first severe day of the season.  I took Lady to work with me, but ultimately nothing happened.
Early March was a time for baby dolls here at Casa Pizarro.  From left to right, these are Lady, a Belly Button Baby that I've chosen to name "Colin," and a Magic Nursery baby that I'm calling "Elias."
Belly Button Baby is one that I saw on Tam's blog.  There were several variants, with one being this little red-haired, brown-eyed boy.  Belly Button Baby is like those collapsing toys (my sister loved them), where you'd push a button and they'd go limp.  Same sort of gimmick with Colin, though I can't show it very well.

Colin is strung pretty tightly so he can't sit, but he can lounge.  He's a ham!
As for Elias, he's got an eye color that I've not seen on a Magic Nursery doll.  They're...hazel or green or a combination of the two.  They look green in the pictures.
I make a big deal about this because Afro-American Cabbage Patch Kids of the early nineties had ZERO variation in eye color.  Their eyes were brown and that was that.  Magic Nursery dolls of color DO have variations in eye color, as Elias and Miss Emily's Shyla show.  Oh, and remember how these dolls have plastic bellybuttons that can vary in shape?  Elias has an outie (remember that all Cabbies have outies too).  So far, Lina is my only Magic Nursery doll with an innie.

March 6th, 8:15 p.m. local time.  All was quiet in the Bootheel, but tornadoes were hitting far to the west and I was keeping a sharp eye on the radar.  March of '26 was moderately stormy, but not as bad as March of '25 was.  Anyway, one of my new dolls offered to keep an eye on two of my smallest dolls.
Like Olivia Hope before her, Audrina is proving to be a natural with babies.  Or she is with Hong Kong Honey and Libra Baby.  Audrina is a Juku Couture doll, by the way, and I do plan on reviewing her soon.  With her joints and inset eyes she's kinda like a tiny LIV doll without wigged hair.  I wonder if her shoes are bigger on the inside, LOL!

March 12.  It's been awhile since I talked about Magic Mixie Pixlings, and the scuttlebutt on Reddit is that Moose Toys has pulled the plug on these.  No time like the present to snap one up...or two.
By pure dumb luck I found both Amber (left) and Catlyn being sold together, unencumbered by those clunky bottles.  The consensus on Reddit is that these dolls could've been a hit without all the gimmicks (just like their cousins the Capsule Chix) and I think that indeed is true.  The bottle is a single-trick pony and takes up a lot of space, and there's a danger of it leaking chemicals everywhere (bleach-water, probably, but still).  The dolls themselves are great!  Oh, and as a bonus, the seller shipped my dolls in a Chewy box.  Mama and I are big Chewy fans.  If y'all have animals and don't want to run to Wal-Mart for everything, Chewy.com's shipping is very prompt and the prices are reasonable.

March 12th was also the night I put my last Monster High post together, and I got an outtake.
Budget dolls or no, Frankie and Draculaura know how to look adorable.

March 13th.  We were facing another stormy weekend and I was nervous, so I grabbed two of my soft dolls to hug.  My Newborn Nancy and Lady are who I grabbed.
Still no batteries for My Newborn Nancy yet.  I remember I'd said that I wanted to try her out.

March 17th.  Rockin' redheads.  From left, Joyita Emilia, Hannah Valerie, and Rosanna Claire.
Hannie loves the camera, LOL!

March 22nd.  I was dying to see how Joyita Emilia looked in blue.
She ended up looking not too shabby!

March 27th.  It was chilly and windy again, not twenty-four hours after parts of the Midwest had tornadoes and hail.  I promptly bundled up my newest arrival.
Her name is Baby Annabell, and she's by Zapf Creation.  She'll be getting a review in...<pauses to look>...late May, if all goes well.

March 29th.  By the end of the day it was warm enuff for a change of clothes.
Annabell is a big girl, so finding clothes for her may not be the easiest.  But so far I've lucked out.  And yes, it seriously warmed up that fast.  That's life in the Missouri Bootheel.

April 2nd.  In preparation for Annabell's post I had out My Newborn Nancy and Baby All Gone, or as I call them, Nancy and Mary.
Nancy is a Tyco doll, Mary is a Kenner doll, and they don't look a lot alike, but I'd have happily called them sisters as a kid.  Sisters by different companies, one could say.

April 15th.  Taxes were safely in, my hip was semi-behaving, and a lovely breeze was coming through the storm door's window.  I belong to a Failbook group that goes pretty heavy on the reborn dolls, so I trotted out my iCradle doll, Sandra.
I'd just gotten a new pacifier clip for Sandra, since her magnet doesn't hold her pacifier tightly.  The cord is stiff, but it keeps the binky from falling in the floor, which it did at least twice when I'd move Sandra around.

The next evening I swapped Sandra out for Geneva, my Real Baby.  Mama has named Geneva as a favorite of hers, and I've been pretty open about my fondness for her too.
I really feel my physical limitations when handling Geneva.  She's a big baby and I have to hold onto Barbie Walker with both hands, so I have to drape Geneva awkwardly across Barbie Walker's crosspiece...or ask for help, which I loathe.  Mama is also on a walker and can't carry much more than I can, and I want Uncle Man-Child to keep his lousy mitts off my stuff (don't worry, I leave his crap alone too).  Anyway, springtime and that cute duck dress just beg for a picture of Geneva outside in the sunshine, and without a good carrier I just can't do it.  But then again, there was no sunshine that evening, just rain and some thunder.  The week of the twelfth was very violent in parts of the country, but this time the Bootheel made it out okay.

April 20th, bright, sunny, and breezy.  The Dolly Den (Failbook group) asked for curly hair, and I obliged.
River Song (left) and Alana.  Alana desperately needs a hair bow.

That same day my Zapf Creation Little Princess doll arrived, after quite a journey from abroad.
Cinderella's whole mouth is askew, not just her paint!  I can live with that though, since these dolls are out of production and aren't the easiest to find.

April 24th.  I'd received a steroid shot and was feeling good enuff to drag some of the kids outside.
From left, Martina (Furga), Cassandra (Italocremona), and Ilaria (Furga).

Twice this past week I've been afraid that I'd go flying over the rainbow, but it all came out okay in the end.  Unfortunately I've got a feeling that this summer is going to be long, hot, and dry.  I hope all is well with y'all!

Cheers,

So random, January/February '26

Another winter is almost behind us!  Winter is a part of God's natural cycle, but that's hard to appreciate when the cold makes one's joints ache.  I understand Daddy a little better now, as he was always cranky during winter.  Not mean, mind y'all, just grumpier than usual, and he'd always say "I'm not mad at y'all, I just hurt."  It sucks, and I'm glad it's almost over for another year.  Indeed, except for that bad cold snap in January it's been a pretty chill winter for the Bootheel.  That said, the ants aren't out yet.  They never come out until after the last freeze.

'Nuff chatter, let's get down to business.  On January 3rd I was able to get this lovely little trio together for a picture.
Y'all know how I like odd groupings, and these three are it.  The one in pink white is an obvious Li'l Miss doll, Li'l Miss Candi Stripes.  I'll be unoriginal and call her just "Candi," cutesy spelling and all.  I knew that she had stripey hair, but I had no idea that her clothes changed color too!!!
I know, I know, I said Li'l Miss Magic Hair was my favorite of the Li'l Miss dolls, but I ended up liking Candi's smiling eyes better.  I remember Treesa being surprised by teeth on a doll once, and I too was surprised to see that Candi has teeth showing.
Being an early nineties doll often means having big bangs, and this is what Candi looked like when I pulled her out of her box.  Thus why her bangs are currently bound with an elastic.
Interestingly, Candi didn't come with shoes.  I think she's the only Li'l Miss doll that didn't.  That's fine and dandy for summer and for the beachy clothes that Candi is wearing, but during a Midwestern winter it looks uncomfortable.  I can probably find some shoes somewhere, though.  Candi is probably used to it anyway, as she hails from a place in Kansas called Rossville.  Rossville's latitude is higher than Malden's is.  Not much, but enuff to make winters a smidge harsher.  Add to that the fact that the temperatures here in Malden wildly fluctuated during late December and early January.  On the 3rd it was cold and overcast, and by the 7th it was sixty degrees and threatening rain.  ANYWAY, the tall girl in the middle is Selene, and she's a Famosa doll.  Her city of origin is Scottsdale, Arizona.  Unlike Rossville, I've heard of Scottsdale.  With eyes like this, Selene LOOKS like she should be from Roswell, New Mexico.
NGL, I like Famosa dolls almost as much as I do Furga dolls.  Like Furga, Famosa dolls are proving to be quite diverse.  My Selene isn't wearing her original clothes, but she's unique enuff without 'em and she looks nice in white so I'll not worry about original clothes for now.  Selene is Nancy's friend, and she's...well, an alien of some stripe!  Her eyes once glowed green, just like Emerald the Enchanting Witch's eyes did.
I don't think they glow anymore, but they do sparkle.  I also love Selene's hair; it's this unusual silver blue color.
The last little doll is Italian, but is NOT a Furga doll.  She has just as much personality, but this one is from Italocremona.  I've chosen to call her "Cassandra," and her former home is Totowa, New Jersey.
Cass has some sass!  Here it's possible to see that, at least in Cassandra's case, Italocremona eyes are more realistic than Furga eyes.
On the evening of January 4th I took Candi outside to see if her color-change feature still worked.  Her instructions imply that she'll stop working over time, especially if she's exposed to extreme temperatures..  It was forty-one degrees outside that evening, so I crippled out with her.
Forty-one degrees...the weather we had not long after that made forty-one degrees look like a heat wave.  Anyway, the color change began before I even had the door shut.  As y'all can see, Candi's clothes and hair have turned pink and orange as they should.  Her lips also shifted; inside they were bubblegum pink, but when exposed to cool temps they turn fuchsia.
I wonder how warm she'll have to be before her clothes turn white again.  Casa Pizarro is comfortably warm, but Candi's clothes remained pink and orange when I brought her inside, and they didn't change until I touched her.  I'll have to wait until summer, I guess!

January 10th.  Candela Laura pops in.
My phone's battery was too low for a flash, but I took the picture anyway.  Candela Laura looks the same regardless of the lighting.

January 11th.  These dolls are all standing on top of my great-grandfather's bookcase.  There's about thirty-five years worth of doll history in that lineup.
Okay.  The pink bunch consists of Alexis (Pretty Crazy Curls), Flower Magic Mary, Surprise Hat Susie, and Twist 'n' Style Tiffany.  Then there's Billie, Mosi, Dell, Zelia, and Camille.  Crystabella rounds out the bunch.  The black thing behind Tiffany and Billie is Grandpa's old globe, long out of date but still fascinating.  I think this bunch is interesting, by the way, as one YouTuber I ran into notes that dolls this size were at one time kinda unique.  They weren't American Girls, and they weren't Barbie, and in the nineties dolls didn't come in this size unless they were glitzy toddler dolls.  Note that my four glitzy toddler dolls do vary in size a bit; Alexis is the tallest and Tiffany is the shortest.  Please forgive the dust and the terrible angle; the bookshelf is six feet tall, and I'm both five-seven and standing slumped.
I haven't yet thrown Candi into the mix (there's no more room on the top of the bookcase), and I haven't thrown in my other two new fourteen-inchers either for the same reason.  January 16th.  Kenya is on the left, and Philly girl Olivia is on the right.  Olivia is an I'm a Wow doll, the smaller counterpart to the I'm a Girly dolls.
Bet y'all forgot I had an I'm a Girly, LOL!  Robyn is still around, but Olivia is not analogous to her, not in appearance, anyway.  She's got blue hair like I like, plus highlights that change color in the sun.  As for Kenya, she's cute.  I'll be reviewing her...someday.  I've had zero energy lately.

January 22nd.  One of my favorite YouTubers had dropped a new video, and I was about to share a soda pop with Rubia Emilia.
Swengle Studios and pineapple Fanta for the win!  Swengle Studios specializes in tornadoes, but he does other odd meteorological phenomena too, and he dumbs it down for idjit galoots like me.  For the record, I've since changed Rubia's first name to "Joyita."  That sticks with my old shipwreck theme, and I never really liked the name "Rubia."  So Joyita Emilia she is.

January 25th.  It was bitterly cold outside by then, I was recovering from the other type of cold, and Cotton Candy Mia wanted to show off her new hair bow.
We wear hair bows in Casa Pizarro.  Hair bows are cool.  LOL, this one was a freebie; it accompanied two larger bows that Mama got for me.

January 30th.  Random pic of Joyita Emilia.
Joyita had her new pacifier by then, as well as an outfit change, but I was still waiting for the shoes.

February 4th.  A tale of two Sindy dolls.
Crimp and Style Sindy is on the left, and the wary brunette on the right is the late-model Pedigree that y'all met on Valentine's Day, before I put her in the pink dress.

February 6th.  Bella (one of my dogs) took five years off my life when she got her head caught in the bars of the dog kennel, and Uncle Man-Child didn't help when he told me Bella wasn't moving.  She ended up being fine.  This lovely young lady then turned up in the mail.
She's a chimera, a 2025 Barbie Basics head on what appears to be a Shani body.  These Basics are supposed to have Made to Move bodies.  Still, whoever rebodied this doll took the time to match a head to a body, because both parts are very pale.  "Amy" will be this doll's name, for reasons that might be obvious to some of y'all.

February 11th.  It was unseasonably warm after that cold snap, and I had spring fever.  Ayla Diamond thus fell victim to an early spring redress.
Etsy shop is MiniMediMo.  I'm with Miss Emily, by the way; these little babies need to be made with open eyes!  I'd hoped the Valentine's Day wave would have some awake and alert little ones, but no dice.

February 14th.  It was cool and rainy, perfect for cuddling dollies.  Enter Sandy Eden.
Sandy is a bean-butt baby, my second.  Mama told me that she'd ordered a cute outfit for a bean-butt girl, but I didn't have a girl...or so I thought.  I forgot that Taniyah Yasmin can wear bean-butt clothes too.

February 17th.  I had my Baby Alive dolls (numbering four by then) on the couch, and Lily took a liking to them.
Lily likes my dolls for some reason.  Doesn't matter who I've got scattered about.  She rubs them and purrs, like she's marking them as her own.  Maybe she likes them because they smell like me.  I dunno.

February 18th.  My new dolls of the day struck a pose.  Better Now Bella is on the left, and her friend Ingrid Jessica is a Hasbro-era bean-butt baby.
They're both Hasbro, come to think of it!

February 22nd.  Two of the Philadelphia bunch get acquainted.
Treesa sent me both of these, albeit in different packages.  Alexandria Florida is the Cabbie, and Lina is the Magic Nursery baby.  They don't have much in common, but they're cute, and deeply appreciated gifts.  Indeed, I have several Magic Nursery dolls, but Lina remains my favorite.

February 24th, another sitting down image, since that's about all I can do nowadays.  These two are Gary Collier and Autumn Leah, and apologies for our unkempt bed.  Mama and I both hit the sack not long after I took this picture.
Mama isn't Gary Collier's biggest fan, but she likes Autumn Leah okay.  When she saw Gary from a more flattering angle she warmed to him.  He'd fallen backwards when she first saw him, see, and since Gary's mouth is a little open he looks kinda, sorta, really DEAD when his head lolls back.

February 25th.  This is literally a spur-of-the-moment picture, caught when I was riding to work.
Shelley is the blonde and Sindy is the aforementioned brunette.  The blue expanse behind them is my knee, sheathed in its usual denim.  Seriously, I live in blue jeans, practically.  Sindy has already been redressed, by the way, but I won't show that until mid-March.

Same day, different dolls.  I was inspired by this image to pair up my matching two dolls.
I've got two Magic Nursery babies and like 'em both, but I was piddle-pooting around with Lina around then, so she and Pineberry got to sit together.

That rings down the curtain on another winter, for the most part.  I know some of y'all are still dealing with snow and I don't envy you in the slightest, but for me it's time to shake out my T-shirts and make sure my flashlight has batteries when severe storms come to call.  No more sandals because my ankles need some support, but that's life, and my doll kids can wear sandals.
