Who are you?

A new doll, possibly?
No, believe it or not, this is Justine-Marie.
Long time, no see, but Justine-Marie is alive and well.  She has a short wig that's colored like coffee with swirls of milk, but Mama saw the long blue wig and fell in love with it.  And since I consider my dolls as much hers as mine, I got the wig.  It bears a striking resemblance to the wigs worn by JLY #92, and by one of my favorite Forever Dolls, Rebel.
Indeed, I made a post some years ago noting how Rebel and #92 were doppelgangers of a sort.  Anyway, Justine-Marie's wig has the same colors and is the same style and length, so the aesthetic is there.  I had been waffling on buying #92 despite not needing her, but I guess now I REALLY don't need her!

Now...y'all be honest:  which way do you prefer Justine-Marie?  The coffee wig or the Sharpie wig?  Yeah, those colors remind me of Sharpie markers.
I did eventually lower the hairline a bit.  Justine-Marie's forehead doesn't look as big now.
I once wanted blue hair as badly as the Doctor wants red hair, but dyeing my hair seems a little pointless now so I live through my dolls.  Much cheaper, much less upkeep.

By the time this post goes up I'll be en route to the hospital at Dexter to have an MRI done.  Hopefully after that I'll have a better idea about when my surgery will be.  I took a bad fall last night and sprained my ankle, so the going is even slower now than it was, so while Justine-Marie is beautiful, my life currently is not.  Maybe the hospital can help me with my ankle while I'm there.

AG Spotlight: Justine-Marie Beauregard

How do you do?  I'm actually not American, but I don't guess that matters...<sniffle>...got any Kleenex?
FULL NAME:  Justine-Marie Beauregard

NICKNAME:  Ugh...my friends call me "Sneezy."

WHERE I GOT MY NAME:  The House of Hayward again, LOL.  Doremi is named after the child, and I'm named after Justin and Marie themselves.

CUSTOMIZED FROM:  I used to be a Marie-Grace Gardner doll.  Why someone wanted to rip off my wig and give me new eyes and paint before throwing me on eBay, I'll never know.  My current eyes belonged to a Caroline Abbott doll.

*Side note from the Moon Girl:  I wonder who got Marie-Grace's eyes?  I wonder what happened to the eyeless Caroline?

HOMETOWN:  Bournemouth, Hampshire, England

HEAD MOLD:  Marie-Grace

HAIR COLOR:  Light brown with blonde highlights

EYE COLOR:  Blue-green

OTHER DISTINGUISHING FEATURES:  A lot of freckles and enhanced lips

FAVORITE COLORS:  Mint green, yellow, and periwinkle

THINGS I LIKE:  Fancy clothes, cheerleading, Disney anything, ice cream, skiing and winter sports in general, traveling and exploring, horseback riding, hair bows (a must-have for anyone with a side part), Minnie Mouse ears,

THINGS I DISLIKE:  My allergies are my main peeve.

MY CHOICE OF MUSIC:  INXS and the Black Keys are my favorite bands.  "What You Need" and "Gold on the Ceiling" are my favorite songs.

PETS:  Piglet, a blue French bulldog, Argos, my old Bouvier des Flandres, and Domino, a horse.  Right now I only have a decent picture of me with Domino.
BEST FRIENDS:  Doremi, Zoe, and Sadie.  I'm on the cheerleading team with Zoe and the Dodo (and Rita Cheryl), and I enjoy playing dress-up with Zoe and Sadie.  Even I will admit that Doremi is incredibly difficult at times, but for some reason she'll listen to me if I tell her to relax.  Kailey and I have agreed to swap boogie boarding and skiing lessons, so we've gotten quite thick.  I also enjoy posing for pictures with Luciana and listening to Astro-Luci talk, though I can't tell the First Doctor from the Fiftieth.  Lastly, I sometimes hang out with Courtney, partly because she and Luciana are together a lot and partly because Courtney likes Argos.

*Side note from the Moon Girl:  We're not quite to fifty Doctors yet, Justine-Marie!  We're far from it, in fact.

If you say so, Moon Girl.  Where was I?

SOMEONE I'D RATHER AVOID:  I know Rita Cheryl feels bad for her past mistakes, and I know she'd like to make it right, but when I reach out to her she just freezes up and ignores me.  It makes me sad, but I figure if I'm just patient she'll thaw out.  Rilla Louise is the same way, but for some reason she wants me to be the buffer between her and Rita Cheryl.  I don't believe that will work, Rill.  Not yet, anyway.

HOW I GOT HERE:  eBay again!  Don't we all come from eBay!  In my case the Moon Girl wanted a bald doll so she could play with wigs, but when she fitted my current wig on it proved to be perfect.  I haven't worn another wig since...except for that time when Robyn and Leah and I all swapped wigs.  Robyn's hair color looked good on me, I thought.  I hope maybe the Moon Girl will look into a red bob for me in the future.

*Side note from the Moon Girl:  I'm on it, dolly child!

ABOUT ME:  I'm the gang's little rich girl; indeed, whenever I'm around Z she sings Hall and Oates's "Rich Girl."  I do NOT rely on the old man's money, thank you too much!  LOL, Z loves to tease, but I know she doesn't mean anything by it.  Though I try not to make a big deal of being wealthy, sometimes telling the truth makes people jealous...kinda like Molly's classmate Alison Hargate.  I try to compensate for this by being warm, friendly, and accepting to the friends I've made, and as a result I think I've made quite a few friends.  Doremi is my best friend; we have sort of a Cleo De Nile/Ghoulia Yelps dynamic.  She's the dominant one (or so she thinks), but I know how to rein her in.
Doremi has her flaws; indeed, most of the dolls in Casa del Luna don't like her because she's so unkind to her brother Justin.  I don't like that either, but instead of shunning Doremi I try to see her good side.  She does have a good side, as a great many of us do, but for some reason she...hides it.  I don't know what she's afraid of.  I just try to be patient with her, as I do with Rita Cheryl.  Rita Cheryl's main vendetta was directed against me myself, as she and Doremi were once very close.  When I came to Casa del Luna Doremi welcomed me and Rita Cheryl panicked, fearing she'd lose her only close friend.  Unfortunately her resulting hostility towards me ended up alienating Doremi instead.  I've long since forgiven Rita Cheryl, and I can tell that she wants to smoothen things over but is afraid.  When she's ready to talk things over with me I'm willing to listen.

Regarding my own "nitty-gritties," as the Moon Girl would call them, I'm allergic to shellfish, dust, pollen, and furry animals.  Shellfish make me deathly ill (I have to carry an epi-pen), and everything else makes me sneeze.  But I love animals, so I put up with it.  I even have a horse to ride.  See?
NEVER wear sandals around horses!!!  I did it just now, but that's because I'm a complete pillock.  In other news, I collect Disney paraphernalia and a few dolls; Finding Nemo is my favorite Disney movie, since Dori reminds me of Doremi...or the good side of Doremi, anyway.  I also love Mulan, and I even have her as a doll.
Mulan's hairstyle looks more like her mother's in this case; in the movie Mulan either wore her hair short and tied up or long and loose...but who's paying that close of attention?  I also have Elsa, who has become fast friends with my Marie-Grace doll.
I used to be a Marie-Grace doll myself, I'm told, but like Denise (an ex-Samantha) I have no memory of that.  Well...maybe I do.  I have some hazy memories of a big city and of an illness, but that's about all.  Oh yes, and Argos.
A good pet is unforgettable, and Argos is a good pet.  I just hope he'll get along with Piglet.  Argos is significantly bigger than Piglet, but he's gentle so there probably won't be too many problems.  Kailey, fetch Sandy and we'll see which of our dogs is the larger one!
Looks like Argos is the bigger one, but it also looks like he and Sandy will get along fine.  If Argos has trouble with any pets around here it'll likely be with Amanda Faraday's cat Jeeves.  Jeeves likes to wrestle with puppy dogs, and sometimes he gets a little too free with his claws!

Let's see, what else, what else?  I'm friends with "the infamous Doremi," as a friend of the Moon Girl's put it, and I also am quite thick with Luciana.  The relationship I have with Luciana is sort of an "opposites attract" thing.  She's the scientist and the sci-fi fan, while I like Disney princesses and girly stuff.  But strangely enough, we get along.  We like to take pictures together, and we've even got hats that coordinate.
We share a love for sparkly things and 1920's fashion, the latter of which got easier after Claudie's introduction last month.  So I guess I'm...kinda shallow compared to some of the other girls.  I just like to enjoy my life to the fullest and help my friends do the same.  It's a good life.

Happy first day of autumn,
Justine-Marie Beauregard

As the old saying goes...

...if you don't like the weather, wait awhile.  Said statement especially holds true here in the New Madrid seismic zone.  Last Thursday my area had a wave of noisy, windy, wet thunderstorms, followed by a balmy weekend and another round of severe weather.  So great was my spring fever that I put Rilla Louise, Justine-Marie, and Luciana in their springtime garb, consisting of light, sleeveless shirts, colorful shoes, and in Justine-Marie's case, a new pair of Minnie Mouse ears.

Alas, it was not meant to be.  On Monday night the weather cleared out and turned cold again, and today Mama and I got off work early due to freezing rain.  Oooo, is that wind sharp, too!  I wouldn't mind it all so much if the wind weren't so dad-blamed sharp!  Anyway, two new doll-sized coats arrived in the mail, and Rita Cheryl and Airy quickly claimed them.
Rita Cheryl is hiding her spring dress under that coat, LOL.  By pure chance they happen to match.  Airy's set is a full set of leggings, which I'd wear in a New York second if I didn't have thunder thighs.  Oh yeah, Rilla Louise and Luciana tried to compensate with their new cardigans...

...but I don't b'lieve that'll cut it, not with those bare legs in this wind!  In truth I do plan on pairing Rilla Louise's dress with a pair of jeans, but they're not here yet.  For some reason I've never been a big fan of putting American Girls in short dresses with nothing to cover their legs.  Go figure, I'm weird.

Now I'm going to make sure my animals are warm enuff and go on another YouTube bender.  Stay home tonight if you can, especially if you're in the path of this ice!

Love and warmth,

Another Valentine's Day

I'm single on another Valentine's Day, but that's nothing new.  I'll at least be with a family friend's dogs, so that's something.  To liven the day up I talked Luciana and Justine-Marie out of their respective loves for the Tenth Doctor and Mickey Mouse, and into some more holiday-appropriate clothes.

Hearts and polka dots and lace-up boots!  What's not to like?

Happy Valentine's Day,

Frozen flapper

A few short days after I dolled Lindsey and Marina up in their matching clothes, fall has the Bootheel in its grip.  The days are pleasantly warm, the nights are cool enuff that I have one of my floor heaters running, and Justine-Marie wants to get some mileage out of her new dress and shoes while she has a chance.

The dress has Elsa on it, from Frozen.

Sigh...I feel a little the way Elsa does, I think.  I always feel a little melancholy this time of year, knowing that winter isn't far off.  In addition, a family member needs prayers.  She's been sick with cancer awhile and is in no danger of dying yet, but her tumor is inoperable and she's in great pain.  She's a special family member, always upbeat and smiling, so prayers and positive thoughts would be appreciated.

With that lovely little message, dig Justine-Marie's shoes.

Can't beat sparkles, and can't have a Frozen dress without sparkly shoes.  As winter deepens I'll fetch a jacket and a pair of tights for Justine-Marie too, and she can enjoy her element while looking adorable.

Of course, such a dress will hardly do for Halloween, but Justine-Marie is covered there too.  She has her own little flapper dress.  Please ignore Adam's arm on the side, LOL.

From ice and snow to rain and fog!  Mama said she also saw this dress available in blue or red, but she liked the silver best.  I have to say that I do too, as silver goes with any skin tone.  Fun story about that feather boa:  I kept this dress in its box, and I kept the box on top of my late chinchilla's cage.  Well, night before last the box slid off and the feather boa flew out, and two of my cats thought it was some magical new plaything.  Luckily I got it back before too much damage was done, but it was still an entertaining five minutes.

With Justine-Marie ready, my sights now turn to Zoe.  She's going to be a witch, but it's not the witch y'all might be thinking of.  Stay tuned!  In the meantime I'm going to ride out the fallout from coronavirus shot numero dos.  Numero uno made my arm sore, but numero dos has left me with a sore arm, a mildly achy body, and a slight cough.  Funzies, but I'm glad I got it done under my own free will, without being ordered to by my boss or the government.

Much warmth and love to all,
RagingMoon1987

Back to school?

Yep, it's time!  The bulletin board at the library has changed, and that can only mean that the season is changing too.

SUCKAS!!!  I don't have to go back!  Haven't had to go since 2006 (college doesn't count because I loved college).  Yeah, as I've heavily implied, school starts in Malden today.  Some of the surrounding towns have already gone back, and a few lucky souls start later.  Even though Zoe, Sadie, and Justine-Marie don't have to go to school I'll share their cute dresses anyway, since it's like something I'd dress a kid in for kindergarten.

Zoe and Justine-Marie made it clear that while they like their new Lilly Pulitzer dresses, they'd prefer to save those for special occasions.  So they and Sadie spent most of the summer in these cute sundresses that their grandmother (my mama) bought for them.  Justine-Marie's dress has lemons on it!

I solemnly swear that Mama's purchase of this dress was NOT politically motivated.  Justine-Marie's dress is way cuter anyway.  All three of these dresses are halter-style, and thus her neck strings are on full display...or they would be if Justine-Marie didn't wear her backpack all the time.  She carries some necessities in there, stuff like an epi-pen and some foodstuffs that won't aggravate her shellfish allergy.

The orange dress just screams Zoe's name, so that's what she's got.

Orange and green are perfect for her, though yellow and pink would've worked just fine too.  But since Sadie is blonde it's kind of an unspoken rule that she wear pink.

Her dress is flowered like Zoe's is, but the flowers are smaller.

If the rainy weather we've been having keeps up, these dresses may be the only colors we'll see this autumn!  It's been nothing but on-and-off rain since last Wednesday.  I had to use my freshly painted but unswept carport to take these pictures.

Happy Back-to-School Day (I'm so glad I don't have to go),

Loony for Lilly

Today the dog days of summer are upon us and the cicadas are keening in the trees. July fourth feels like it was long ago, the start of school is just around the corner, and the next holiday (Labor Day for us) seems an eternity away.  But who needs Labor Day when you've got your American Girls dressed in Lilly Pulitzer?

The late, great Lilly Pulitzer's fashions remind me a little of Pucci and those cute but ridiculously priced scarves that make me drool with delight and shake my head in disbelief.  Lilly's dresses are simply made numbers, made special by the busy fabric.  Thus is the case with my four girls.  It should be noted that these dresses were not made by Ms. Pulitzer's company, but the fabric was!  Zoe's dress was the first to come, and it's kind of the oddball of the bunch.

It's the oddball because so far it's the only dress that came from LillyObsession.  I like LillyObsession's dresses and will likely return to them in the future, but for now this is the only one.  The print is called "Sun Drenched," and it's dominantly purple with splashes of pink.

Some Lilly Pulitzer prints have animals on them, as we'll soon see, but Zoe's dress is strictly floral.  The flower on her skirt reminds me of one of my favorite flowers, the chrysanthemum...but I think that it's actually a sunflower.

Fine by me, since I love sunflowers too.  Funny story about this dress now, before I move to the next one.  I keep all my American Girl clothes in Ziplock bags so that they won't get dirty, moldy, stinky, and/or inhabited by spiders and moths while in storage.  Zoe, Lark, and Luciana didn't have storage units at first, so I kept their stuff in separate piles on my roll-top desk.  One night this dress slipped off my desk, and Tommy absconded with it, bag and all!  The funniest part is that when I yelled at him to stop it he didn't drop the bag!  He kept running with it, so I had to chase him down and pry his lousy little jaws off the bag.  Usually when I scold my cats for playing with something they shouldn't they drop the item and book it out of the room, but not Tommy!  If he wants a plaything he wants it, and he's gonna have it or know the reason why.  Tommy never grew up, by the way; he's probably a year old now, but his favorite pastimes are still chewing on things and rassling with my arm.  He's ornery, but he's also one of the sweetest cats I own.

Since Luciana's meet outfit is pink and purple I figured she needed another pink and purple getup.  Her dress and the other two dresses are from ChlozzByLibby.  In a way Luciana's dress is also an oddball since it's really a top and a skirt.

Libby had the option of ordering these pieces separately or together, so I just chose to be unoriginal and ordered both pieces (as of writing, a single-piece dress is also available in this fabric).  The pink patches are...giraffes.  From a distance it's a little hard to tell, but I can see a head here.

As a nice little hippie touch, the collar of the dress and the front are trimmed with white daisies.

Doesn't really match that necklace that Luciana wears everywhere, but Astro-Luci gives zero flying burritos about that.

Given the hippie styling of these dresses, I got one for my resident hippie, Julie.

Again, Julie stands out a little from the crowd in that her dress is blue rather than purple or pink.  The pattern is both floral and a little tribal in style, perfect for some critter to hide, but...no critters on this particular dress!

Julie's dress has some floral trim like Luciana's does, but the daisies are gold this time.

I got her some gold shoes just for the occasion, LOL!

Those are Isabelle Palmer's shoes, by the way.  When my little friend showed me her Isabelle I fell in love with her shoes.  These aren't exactly period-accurate shoes for Julie, but...well, who's gonna notice?

Lastly, my clothes horse, Justine-Marie.

Actually I exaggerate, as Justine-Marie doesn't have as much stuff as I thought she did.  Most of what she does have is winter garb, hardly appropriate for the warm weather we're having now.  Mama and I are slowly rectifying that, and I started my part of rectification with this dress.  This is my favorite of the Lilly dresses, because it's got...I initially thought these were monkeys, but I think now that they're supposed to be wildcats of some stripe.

I'll have to invert the image to make sure.
Yep, that's a wildcat, alright!  There's also some unicorns in there, and a few birds.

No wait, I do see some monkeys!  There's one upside down under one clump of daisies and another right-side up near the left seam.

The neckline and some faux pockets are trimmed with white daisies, just like Julie's and Luciana's dresses are.

The skirt of this dress also has two little bows tied into it like Julie's does.

The only problem I can find with these dresses is that I've yet to see them in sizes for other dolls.  It would be nice to have one for Sasha or Crissy or Ana Ming or (spoiler alert) a Disney Animator doll.  I bet if I asked someone politely they'd do it!  They do come in sizes for Bitty Babies and Wellie Wishers, so that's something.

I'm not sure what else to say, so I'll just end it for now.  If all goes well I should have a review up this week.

Best wishes,
RagingMoon1987
