Underrepresented...until now

In a post that never saw the light of day, I noted that Yasmin was criminally underrepresented in my Bratz collection.  Jade is my favorite Bratz character, period, and until recently I largely ignored the other characters.  Well, sort of, I did.  One Sasha, two of Meygan, two of Cloe, three of Jade, one each of several other characters.  No Yasmin at all...well, yeah, I sort of did.  I have a Bratz Kidz Yasmin and a Yasmina Clairvoya, but I didn't have any examples of Yasmin herself until this past June.  Smile purdy, ladies.

It's Yasmin's birthday today, so she's celebrating with doppelgangers!  The doll on the left is an early Yasmin, from the first Strut It! wave in 2003.  She is wearing her secondary blouse, and her primary skirt and shoes.  She's got a bit of a hippie vibe going on with that skirt.

I'd have worn a getup like this in a heartbeat back in high school, though my sister pointed out that some of my health woes now might trace back to my teenage penchant for wearing platform shoes.  Teenagers always think they're gonna live forever, and sixteen-year-old me thought "By golly, if Elton John could wear big goofy shoes, so can I!"  LOL, anyway, the five main Bratz characters had a basic look, but that look was not set in stone (I've seen some Cloe dolls with brown eyes, for example).  This particular Yasmin has blue-green eyes that seem to glow under the right light, plus big burgundy lips that I love.  Her eyeshadow is pretty tame, especially for a Bratz doll, but it has a nice shimmer when the light is right.

Interestingly, this Yasmin doesn't have earrings.  Big bangles were usually the norm for Bratz.

I love the simple ponytail, by the way.  Hairstyling has never been my strong point, be it on dolls or on myself, but I can handle this.

The doll in the middle is Head Gamez Yasmin, in a dress that she may or may not have borrowed from Ooh-La-La Kumi.  LOL again, and no, this was legit her stock dress.  It just happens to be the same as Kumi's extra dress.

Hey, they're The Girls With a Passion for Fashion, right?  This dress is a simple, versatile little number so it fits in well with just about any Bratz wave.  Since customization was kinda the point of Head Gamez all the dolls were simply dressed, but they still looked nice.  I remember the Head Gamez dolls very well and I loved the idea at the time, but it turns out that the heads can't be swapped easily, and doing so damages the doll.  So Yasmin will be keeping her noggin, and THAT'S ALRIGHT, THEN, because she's got a pretty face.  I think she knows it, too, as smug as she is!  This Yasmin has baby blue eyes with a brown rim, plus eyeshadow that goes with everything.  Her lips are a dusty rose shade.

I like Strut It's cranberry lips better, but they're both pretty dolls.  Interestingly, Strut It doesn't have earrings or holes for earrings, and Head Gamez does.  They're still not the bangles I associate with these dolls, but they ARE earrings.

This last one is none other than iCandy, one of my all-time favorite Bratz lines.

Pink looks amazing on Yasmin, and this particular doll paired it with blue.  Notice that she doesn't wear any earrings either, and that her eyes are completely different from those of the other two.

Green or hazel, I'd say.  Her eye makeup is also pretty tame, though not as subtle as Strut It! Yasmin's eyeshadow is.  This Yasmin has straight hair and thus didn't look as scruffy when removed from the box.  I appreciate the straight fibers, and also the jazzy pink streak that fits the iCandy theme.

Pink definitely has its place in the dolly world!  iCandy Yasmin is something of a foodie, by the way; here she's refusing to move unless I share my pizza.

Pizza was shared.  Malden's Pizza Hut closed down when the chain sold, but we have a Casey's that serves pizza so all is not lost.

Definitely a victory for Yasmin, and for me as well, since a hole in my Bratz collection has been filled.  I still admire Genie Magic Yasmin from afar, but...well, my rekindled obsession with Simon and Halbig dolls has been very hard on my doll budget (spoilers!), so that Yasmin will have to wait for now.  No worries, the ones I've got are fine.

And now, News From the Moon!  I have an appointment with my neurologist set up.  I see her on August 25th at Cape Girardeau, and hopefully I'll get some friggin' answers already!
