Wasn't expecting this!

I think this blunder is worth fifty points from Hufflepuff, because everyone knows you READ an eBay listing before buying!  But no, I saw a cute little top and shorts and the name "Baby Alive" attached, thought "Mayyyyybe Lulu will have better luck with those," and I smashed that Buy Now button.  Only after the package came did I reread the listing and understand what I was getting.
Her name is Little Maya, and she belongs to the Baby Alive Littles line.  These dolls are significantly smaller than Lulu and the other Baby Alive dolls I'm familiar with, and they have soft bodies with permanently attached clothes.  So even if Maya WAS Lulu's size Lulu wouldn't be getting that top.  It's a cute top, with a rabbit on...a surfboard?
Mmmkay, that's a new one!  Either way it's cute, and it's flat all over so Maya can wear other little outfits over it.  Hasbro hasn't been shy about making extra outfits for these Littles, either.  In another error of judgement I bought a Littles outfit, one with a frog raincoat, hoping that it would fit Lulu.  Of course it's way too small, but Maya can wear it.  Too bad there's no rain in our forecast.  None at all for at least a week and a half!

So yeah, Little Maya was a surprise, but I won't say she's an unwelcome one.  Look what she can do!
Sh-sh-sha!!!  I've got me another little thumb-sucker!  Oh, and to Setsu-P, Maya has the same thing that all Baby Alive dolls have:  a Skittles-shaped noggin.
I gotta agree with Setsu, that's kinda freaky!  Maya's hair hides the flat head somewhat, but it's still pretty obvious.

Failbook has a number of decent groups devoted to dolls like Barbie, like the Cabbage Patch Kids, like the American Girls.  Baby Alive also has a fairly big fanbase, so I was surprised that Failbook doesn't have many groups for them.  Oh, there are groups, but they're buy/sell groups or inactive or riddled with spam.  So don't be surprised if Lulu and Maya start popping into the blog a lot.  Like my Cabbies they're not the prettiest things, but they're innocent and fun to own so I like 'em.

Love,

    1. LOL, I know. Seems like a pretty poor design.

    2. I can only assume it's to keep them from being too top heavy? If they tried to keep it even somewhat proportional to their facial features, you'd have an LOL Surprise situation going on and the doll would double a little too well as a self-defense item...

    3. Yeah, I joked myself once when Lalaloopsy dolls were a thing that they could double as a club. Same sorta thing could've been the case here. Yo7r explanation makes a lot of sense.

    4. Dolls that are top heavy also can't sit or stand well, even with a doll stand, without falling forward, flat on their faces.

    5. Boy, they can't sit or stand well! My Lalaloopsies can't, and they're extremely top-heavy.
