Good things come from Texarkana! Mama and I both love this shop, and whenever I see "Texarkana, Arkansas" on the package I get all excited. Sometimes the contents are a surprise, but I bought this so it was expected. I got two of 'em, one for one of my dolls and one for my friend's doll. She asked where the best places were to find Cabbie clothes, and I told her "Leave it to me!"
This next getup is from Mama, and it's an American Girl ensemble.
Being dominantly purple, this will have to belong to one of my LSU girls, either Zoe or Katherine Alyce. Regardless, I think I recognize this shop, as it included a little freebie bracelet.
I once bought an outfit for Doremi, and it included a free bracelet like this one.
This next outfit is also from Mama, and it has Silver Bird's name all over it. It even has a hair ribbon, which I love.
Mama's penultimate contribution is this Jean skirt. I love the details!
Mama says she's got a top en route to go with this skirt, so we'll see how this ends up.
I bought this next outfit. Anytime I have a chance to add to So Surprised Suzie's wardrobe, I take it.
It's even got shoes, which I greatly appreciate.
This last little outfit belongs to a doll that I don't yet own. Haven't even ordered her yet. But I've built her a nice wardrobe.
Sweet summertime will come again, and the new girl will be ready! I'm not saying who she is, but some of y'all may be able to figure it out. I will say that she's a big doll, with long, slender arms and legs.
Lastly, I got one more doll. She's Nancy, a doll that I've reviewed before, but she's Day of the Dead Nancy.
Before unboxing this gal I want to look at her box. My other Nancy wasn't MIB so I've never seen this doll's packaging before. The back is bright and colorful, and as far as I can tell the illustrations are accurate to the actual doll.
Other side of the back of the box. More of the same.
Since Nancy and other Famosa products are European there are multiple languages on her box.
What are we playing today? Fair question!
Here she is!
In terms of aesthetics, she's as different from my other Nancy as night is from day. They're clearly both Nancy dolls, but they're very, VERY different.
Okay, she has the same bright blue eyes and wildly long eyelashes as my other Nancy. She's also got the calavera face paint and the flowers that a good Catrina would wear...when she's not wearing a hat. A lot of Catrinas wear big hats, but Nancy didn't go that way.
She is, however, wearing a butterfly.
Monarch butterflies are important to Day of the Dead celebrations, so Nancy's butterfly is fitting.
Not a bad day! It isn't every day that I get hauls like this, especially since I'm trying and semi-succeeding at not buying stuff. Seriously, I'm semi-succeeding. I want Nancy to be my last doll for awhile...unless I find the perfect Cabbie for my friend in Newfoundland (she wants to kidnap Beryl June, LOL). But for now, I'm happy.
Big love,

That Nancy is great! I've never seen a Day of the Dead one. You find the most interesting dolls! I wanna shop with you and Tam!
ReplyDeleteeBay's the place to go! You never know what you'll find!
DeleteOh yes!! I'd definitely kidnap Beryl June, but it would have to be sort of mutual, cause you'd have to bring her to Newfoundland for a visit first, so I could get my hands on her to actually kidnap her! 🤣 The Day of the Dead Nancy is AWESOME looking!! There's some Day of the Dead Playmobil figures that I've been eyeing that are totally cool!!!
ReplyDeleteHi, Christa! Well the secret's out, I'm doing my darnedest to find a doll that looks like Beryl June, and if I do I'm sending her to you. My friends who have sent me gifts want me to pay it forward, and that's exactly what I'm going to do.
DeleteI had no idea that Nancy came in Day of the Dead form, so finding her was a lovely surprise. I need to get a look at those Playmobil sets; they're cute enuff without the makeup!
That is so sweet of you! Like extremely thoughtful!! It still blows my mind the wonderful people I have met and the awesome friends I have made since getting into cabbies.
DeleteYou definitely need to check out the Playmobil Day of the Dead sets...they are amazing! I have sooooo much Playmobil! The Klickies (the Playmobil people) are my favorite, I have 2 full bookcases of em, plus more scattered around the room. It's a sickness I tell ya! Hahahaha
DeleteI know, right? I've met some lovely friends too, in the AG world and in the Cabbie world, and here on the blog. Far cry from what I had as a teenager; my only window to the dolly world was magazines. Those are okay, but it's hard to reach out that way.
DeleteI need to watch the ol' space; I need another collection of stuff like I need a hole in my head. But I may have to make an exception with Playmobil!
DeleteEd just corrected me... 3, I have 3 full bookcases full of Playmobil. Oopsie! Hahahahaha
ReplyDeleteLOL, that's quite a lot!
DeleteWhat a great haul RM, I'm glad you are semi-succeeding. LOL! The Day of the Dead Nancy is definitely an awesome addition to your collection!
ReplyDeleteLots of love,
X
Everybody loves that Nancy! I was expecting some folks to be weirded out. I hope you're doing well!
DeleteI love those doll clothes! I guess I'll have to be the first to say that I don't like Nancy, but she doesn't weird me out. Still, that's why people have different collections! I saw that Missouri got hit recently with some big storm action, but it doesn't sound like you were hit, so I'm glad.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Nancy isn't for everyone! Just like Day of the Dead isn't for everyone either; some of my classmates in high school hated having to build a shrine for Spanish class, even though it was for a grade.
DeleteRight now it's looking like we'll get another dose of severe weather to finish out the month. Our forecast is calling for storms most of next week.
I love the Mickey Mouse eared fruits print on the first dress. And that tangerine colored dress for So Surprised Suzie looks fun, with the little orange 'blossom' on the front. Come to think of it, I wonder what color actual orange blossoms are. I may have to look that up online, for curiosity's sake.
ReplyDeleteSigned, Treesa
Orange blossoms are a creamy white with a yellow center. I got curious too one day and looked it up. I was trying to save Suzie's outfit for fall, but I may not be able to, LOL.
